THY ART IS MURDER ascended the ranks of extreme metal’s top-tier bands with a meteoric underground rise as explosive as humankind’s seemingly inevitable descent into doom and death.

Australia’s most harrowingly brutal export since George Miller’s Mad Max franchise, Thy Art Is Murder offers a savage take on blackened death metal combined with a heady but accessible approach to social commentary that has challenged and inspired audiences worldwide. Six albums in and countless laps of the globe to their name, Thy Art Is Murder are regulars at top-tier heavy festivals like Download, Wacken, Graspop, Hellfest and Summer Breeze, while sharing stages with genre-titans like Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Kreator, Lamb Of God and Parkway Drive. In their native country, the two-time ARIA award-nominees made history as not only the first homegrown extreme metal band to crack the ARIA Top 40, but also the highest charting when they landed #5 with Dear Desolation (2017).

In 2023 the band released their sixth explosive record, Godlike. A soundtrack to a divisive postmodern dystopia helmed by longtime producer and mixer Will Putney, Godlike sees Thy Art Is Murder explore new sonic depths and dynamics without sacrificing an ounce of the intensity or urgency they’ve staked their name on. Songs like “Join Me in Armageddon”, “Destroyer of Dreams”, “Blood Throne”, “Keres” and “Lesson in Pain” deliver sharp stabs, guttural descents, and groove with muscular athleticism and confidence. As Forte Magazine said of the record: “Its lyrics are as poignant and thought-provoking as ever, the breakdowns are bigger than before and the level of technicality is far superior to anything Thy Art have done previously”.

Following the release of Godlike, Thy Art Is Murder played the biggest-ever headline tour and mainstage festival slots of their 15-year long career, including their debut stint on Knotfest Australia. Europe could barely keep up with the demand for tickets as shows sold out as fast as venues were upgraded. The world has an insatiable appetite for Thy Art Is Murder and it’s easy to see why.

“Fishman Fluence Modern pickups completely transformed my approach to tone. When we were recording Dear Desolation, the clarity, power, and precision these pickups delivered blew me away. They handle everything—from the heaviest riffs to intricate leads—without losing any definition. Whether live or in the studio, the consistency is unmatched. They’ve become an essential part of my sound, cutting through the mix with brutal precision while still retaining warmth and depth. Fishman Fluence is the future of modern metal tone, and I couldn’t imagine playing without them.”
