Andrew’s career begins with a parody death metal band named Vampire Squid. Founded in 2013, the group remains active and writing. With 5 releases under their belt, Vampire Squid is a relentless blend of all subgenres of death metal one can think of while maintaining a light heart. This group was a stepping stone for what the future would hold as well as cement in his unmistakable riffing style.
Virrueta’s first touring gig was in progressive death metal outfit The Faceless(Sumerian Records), which he joined in 2018. This band helped put his name above ground for the first time, and he has run with it since.
Simultaneously, Virrueta joined forces with Aaron Stechauner and Miles Dimitri Baker (ex Rings Of Saturn) in a group called Interloper. Andrew remains the vocalist/ guitar player of this band. It is his main band to this day.
Andrew can be seen with other extremely talented acts such as Ingested (Metal Blade Records) and Entheos (Metal Blade Records) as a live player for both.
