Nova Ni is a guitarist and music producer from China, currently based in Toronto, Canada.
She is widely regarded as the first female guitarist in China’s heavy music scene capable of leading a band’s songwriting and arrangement. Over the years, she has been consistently recognized as “the best female guitarist in China’s progressive music scene.”
Nova began composing and performing professionally at the age of 18. By 20, she was touring nationwide with her band and performing on major festival stages across China. Her extensive live experience and long-term collaborations have shaped a distinct musical perspective and a strong sense of structural depth in her compositions.
In 2019, she released Hard Candy’s debut EP Have You Heard of Stars, featuring Hypocrisy, Past Is the Past, Tide, and Awake of Comets. The EP was praised for its melodic arrangements and its balance of intensity and delicacy. Guitar China and several heavy-music media wrote:

That same year, Nova performed as a guest artist on the China tours of Kadinja, Novelists, While She Sleeps, and Shokran, while also beginning ongoing collaborations with multiple instrument brands.
